Purple coat Santa platter
This has got to be one of my favorite Santa platters we have ever done. To me it is so different for so many reasons.
- He has green sneakers (yes I’m old and I like to use the word sneakers)
- He is in his off season purple colored coat. (close to winter but not there yet, I think purple is the definitely the correct color for August)
- He is Santa so even though there is a ways to go before Christmas, it is still a good time for him to decorate by placing the star on the top of the tree.
- Most importantly…those are some crazy wacky colors…

This is our pug mill. To me it looks like a crazy clay recycler. When pressing some of our shapes and pieces (click here to see what the heck I’m talking about) we end up with lots of scraps. Unfortunately we can not use them because of all the air pockets in between all the scrap pieces. Air pockets equals exploding pieces in the kilns.
So we have this contraptions. Our pug mill. It takes all our scraps and grinds them up (very scarily I might add) and uses vacuum and a lot of torque and produces big hug worm like play doe looking extractions that we can later use to press with.
It has taken me about 10 months to get it almost ready and just in time as we are out of clay.
I love our clay it is the creamy color original clay that we press and cast with.
Hopefully I’m close to having this scary mangler looking contraption ready to go. We have 28 5 gallon buckets of scrap clay to recycle and I happen to be completely out of pressing clay.

evil pug mill

notice my warning to myself. Keep hands away.

little more work and we will start it up

Is spectacular too modest of a description for these new prototype round snowman platters that Terry and Michele have been doing?
These are awesome. Very unique and different from our traditional snoware colors.
I will get some better photos up soon. Click the photos for larger images.
