large ceramic martini “glass” project

after pulling fro mold

After one day the ceramic martini glass is ready to be pulled from the mold. If pulled too early the stem will warp or bend out of shape.

after attaching heart buttons

This is how it looks after myc attached the heart “buttons” with liquid clay called slip sort of like welding with clay. It sat about 48 hours in a plastic bag.

The plastic bag was used to slow drying time so the hearts would not crack or split as they are two different clays.

The martini was cast using slip. Slip is a liquefied clay used for casting in ceramic molds.

The hearts were made with a pressing clay. They were rolled out with a rolling pin and then cut out with a small heart “cookie cutter” tool. It still will dry another 1 or 2 days depending on humidity and outside temperature before removing from the bottom of the martini slip mold.
